On National Walk Day an exercise trail is launched in Bushy Park, Dublin.
Bushy Park in Terenure, on the southside of Dublin city, is the perfect spot for a peaceful stroll along the River Dodder on National Walk Day.
For those in search of a more vigorous activity, Lord Mayor of Dublin William Cumiskey opens a new feature in the park, an exercise trail. The two kilometre trail winds through Busy Park offering 20 different exercise points with varying degrees of challenge.
To assist participants attempting to emulate the signs at each station, Dublin Corporation's parks department has published a booklet illustrating the exercises. The booklet explains the health benefits of each exercise and provides instructions for using the outdoor equipment correctly.
This exercise is meant to strengthen back and other body muscles, it’s also meant to be repeated ten times, forget it.
One of the people trying out the exercise trail in Bushy Park is Roger Brunskill, producer of the RTÉ 2 'Positively Healthy' magazine series. While he was able to do one of the suggested exercises,
Others found the trip down a lot easier than the return journey.
