The British Army assist local people in dismantling barricades on the Falls Road area of Belfast.

Barricades erected in Belfast after the shootings and burnings were finally taken down. The barricades went up again at the end of September 1969 after an attack on Coates Street (Divis Street) when local people lost all confidence in the British Army to defend their homes.

During rioting over the weekend of 4-5 October 1969, residents were satisfied with the protection provided by the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) and the British Army. As a result, Chairman of the Belfast Citizens Defence Committee Jim Sullivan, announced the 100 civilian barricades in the Falls would come down.
