In a joint operation the British Army and the RUC search for arms and remove barricades at the Divis Flats in Belfast.

The British Army and the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) surround the Divis Flats complex in West Belfast and mount a search for weapons and explosives.

Hijacked cars and lorries block access to the complex and corridors in the flats. The security forces clear the barricades made from the burned out vehicles.

Seizures made during the systematic search include a rifle with a telescopic sight, a pistol, walkie-talkie radios, petrol bombs and ammunition.
