Railway enthusiasts are out in force to greet steam locomotives at Connolly Station in Dublin.
Railway fans gather on the platform of Connolly Station in Dublin to get a view of steam locomotives travelling from Belfast in Northern Ireland to Athlone in County Westmeath.
A party of some 260 members of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland will travel from Belfast to Athlone by steam train on 14 September 1968. The special train with supporting old rolling stock and carriages will be drawn by the Great Southern and Western Railway 15 class 0-6-0 locomotive no 186. This was built in 1879 and donated to the Society by Córas Iompair Éireann (CIÉ) in 1966.
On 15 September 1968 the members of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland will journey back to Belfast drawn by Northern Ireland Railway 2-6-4T locomotive.
