An excursion back in time on board a steam engine train from Dublin to Wexford organised by the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland.
Reporter Peter McNiff speaks to a number of passengers on board the steam train as they journey from Dublin to Wexford. A group of nostalgic passengers have travelled from Northern Ireland especially for the trip.
One passenger comments on her reasons for taking the journey
I think it's mainly nostalgia... reliving a time when they were in use... You can hear it there whistling away and there's a beat off it. It's got more character than the modern trains.
Peter McNiff also speaks to CIE Catering Inspector Pat Kinsella and Chef on board the steam train number 186 John Culleton who talk about the old days with all the "smuts" on the plates.
A steward on board comments
Smuts or no smuts it's always nice to travel on a steam train.
