Niamh Kavanagh wins the Eurovision Song Contest, making it the fifth victory for Ireland.

Reaction to the thirty eighth Eurovision Song Contest which was held in Millstreet, County Cork. This is the first time Ireland has hosted the contest outside the capital.

The Eurovision Song Contest executive producer Liam Miller says the success of the event is down to the RTÉ Eurovision team, the involvement of the local community and the song 'In Your Eyes' performed by Niamh Kavanagh. He is not daunted by the prospect of RTÉ hosting the contest next year, describing it as,

Something we’ve always been proud to be in.

Winner last year, Linda Martin is also delighted with Niamh Kavanagh’s performance on the night,

I’m so pleased for her.

The woman of the moment Niamh Kavanagh admits to feeling overwhelmed by the reaction to her performance and win.

I don’t think I was prepared at all, I’m totally shocked.
