Motorcycle trials riders take on the course set out at Pine Forest in County Dublin.

It is an energetic start to the new year for competitors in the Vincent O'Reilly Memorial Motorcycle Trophy Race at Pine Forest near Rathfarnham in the outskirts of Dublin.

The competition organised by the Bray and District Motor Cycle Club attracts a large entry of top riders, including participants from Northern Ireland.

The completion is held over three laps of a tough 15 section course up down hillsides and through the woodland.

Quite a number of riders fail to negotiate a steep hill near the Glencullen Road.

Following a close competition, the trophy is taken by Norman Colin on a Bultaco who finishes two marks ahead of Trevor Callaghan riding a Montesa. Brian O’Neill also on a Bultaco finishes in third place.
