A long held wish to wash an elephant is granted at Dublin Zoo.

Ever since she first saw a zookeeper washing an elephant, 11 year old Jennifer Kavanagh from Coolock in Dublin has wanted to do the job herself.

Luckily, Shay Healy is on hand to make this secret ambition come true. At Dublin Zoo, he introduces Jennifer Kavanagh to zookeeper Joe Byrne, who guides her through the elephant washing process. The first task is to soak the elephant using a spray bottle filled with water,

Behind her ears which is very important.

Jennifer Kavanagh then swaps the spray bottle for a bucket of water and brush and sets to work in earnest. On completion, she describes the elephant washing experience as,

To remind Jennifer Kavanagh of her special day, she is presented with an elephant shaped money box.
