Nurses in Belfast can now avail of modern purpose-built apartments at affordable rents close to their place of work.

Ideally situated just off the Donegall Road, close to the Royal Victoria Hospital, one of Belfast's newest and most modern block of flats has been designed and built specifically for nurses.

Financed by the Belfast Hospital management company, Broadway Tower is twelve storeys high, contains seventy two single and twenty four double flats, has two lifts, and a full time porter.

Fully furnished with all modern conveniences, these modern flats with affordable rents are leased to nursing staff, but doctors, physiotherapists and other hospital staff may apply if vacancies arise.

Student nurse Jacqueline Palmer shares a double flat with a friend and is glad she has made the move.

It’s a much nicer atmosphere living here, than in the Nurses’ Home.

Privacy and a better place to study are the main reasons Elizabeth King is happy to call a single flat here home. Being able to sleep after coming off night duty is not a problem here as,

It’s completely quiet, and you can just shut yourself off.

Residents here have the freedom to come and go as they please, which contrasts with life in a nurses’ home where student nurses have to be in by 11 o’clock at night. It is also more economical than renting a flat in Belfast, says Ruth,

Much cheaper...than living out in a flat in Belfast.
