The Dublin suburb of Tallaght launches a tourism campaign to highlight its stunning scenery, shopping, entertainment and history.
Tallaght, Dublin's biggest suburb has joined the search for the tourist who is looking for something with a difference. With the launch of the tourist brochure 'Tallaght And Proud' it aims to highlight the attractions of the area to potential visitors.
Since the 1970s Tallaght in west Dublin has grown from a village into one of the biggest urban areas in the Ireland. Tallaght’s first and only hotel, The Abberley Court on Belgard Road opened for business in November. Given the development Tallaght has seen since the mid 1980s, general manager Kevin O’Driscoll is convinced there is room for more hotels to prosper in the area.
Tallaght Chamber of Commerce says the they are supporting, facilitating and bringing together the groups that are keen to develop tourism in Tallaght. President of the Chamber of Commerce Tom Clarke believes Tallaght is an untapped resource for tourism with scenic attractions to rival Glendalough in County Wicklow.
Minister for Tourism and Trade Enda Kenny shares this confidence,
Tallaght is an area that can and will support huge growth in tourism numbers and will have a very beneficial spin off in the local economy with resulting jobs.
