Blizzards and flooding create challenges for many living in rural isolated areas.
Blizzards across the midlands have caused chaos for residents in the area. Flooded fields in Longford and Westmeath began to freeze over. Parents were called to rural schools to take children home early. The flood water levels are so high from the River Shannon that waders are needed by some people having to make their way home.
Farmers are faced with the challenge of reaching cattle in high areas. Neighbours and friends are also checking in on older people living in isolated areas.
