'On the Land' visits the apiary of Jess Cobb in Bridgetown, County Wexford.

Mr Cobb has been keeping bees for years and winning prizes for his honey. This film shows Jess at work harvesting honey from his hives. Smoke is used to protect him from being stung while at work. The honey is extracted from the hive frames through spinning.

This episode of 'On the Land' was broadcast on 13 August 1962.

'On the Land' was a weekly programme for farmers broadcast from 1962 to 1971. Jack White, Head of Public Affairs, Telifís Éireann, wrote 

Good cover of farming is a basic duty for a television network that serves an agricultural country. Telifís Éireann is anxious to do its bit to make for a better life on the land.
