In 1981 Andy Summers, guitarist with the band 'The Police', joined Gay Byrne on The Late Late Show to discuss the band's success.
Summers jokingly puts the success of the band down to their blonde hair. He says that luck, timing and hard work were key elements to their success.
The Punk movement that happened in 1976 was a real symbol of a need for something new... we were very inspired by the sort of any energy that was being generated at that time.
Punk inspired The Police to find their own style, which Summers says has received positive and negative reactions from the critics.
I still read all the reviews.
