The 3,189 runners taking part in the 17th Dublin marathon faced windy conditions.

Fun runners and elite athletes had the support of enthusiastic crowds along the marathon route. The large field consisted of elite athletes, wheelchair participants, fun runners and there was a minathon for young runners.

In the men's race the four fastest runners came from Kenya with 24 year old Joseph Kahugu finishing first with a time of 2:17:42. The women's race was won by Irish runner Cathy Shum who came home in a time of 2:38:56. The wheelchair winner was John Fulham with a time of 2:11:52
