The old famine village of Cill Rialaig, County Kerry is to become an artist retreat.
200 years ago the community of Cill Rialaig was inhabited by about 90 people living in nine homes positioned at 400 feet above sea level. The homes are now derelict. One of the village's most famous inhabitants was seanachaí Sean O'Conaill.
Plans are now afoot to restore the original village and make it into an artist retreat. It is hoped that the new village will encourage local people to stay in the area. Kevin McDonald talks to Treasurer of the Cill Rialaig Restoration Project about the plans.
