Charlie Bird meets one of three men convicted of training FARC rebels in Colombia.

Martin McAuley, Niall Connolly and Jim Monaghan were arrested in Bogotá and charged with travelling on false passports and training the FARC in 2001. The three men went on the run from the authorities after they were released from jail pending an appeal in their case. Their whereabouts was a mystery until 5 August 2005, when RTÉ News revealed that they had recently returned to Ireland.

In this interview with Charlie Bird, Jim Monaghan explains that he cannot endanger those who helped them by giving details of how they got back. But he does not consider himself on the run.

Hand on heart, didn't go to train the FARC, went because of the peace process, because of our own involvement in the peace process.

He accuses the Americans of producing false evidence in the case.
