Arts and Crafts are the focus of the annual Cork Craft Month, now held every August. Mary Kennedy visited the launch in 2010 to find out more about it.
In this 'Nationwide' report, Mary Kennedy speaks to Deirdre O'Mahony of the West Cork Enterprise Board, who explains how the idea came from research done by Cork Art and Design, a group of about 200 craft people based in Cork.
Maybe it's the lifestyle, the pretty villages, the seascapes, the scenery that has attracted a lot of craft businesses to the West Cork area.
Cork Craft Month gives the public the opportunity to visit exhibitions as well as giving businesses the opportunity to network and mingle. There are many different activities on offer, including a number of craft courses.
