A woman is dramatically rescued from an office block in Dublin City Centre.

Miss Peggy Daly of Messrs. Power, Redmond and Co. Chartered Accountants was rescued from the building after papers in a basement storeroom caught fire. Other employees working in the building managed to escape via the stairs.

Unity House, O'Connell Street which also accommodated the offices of Messrs. Ostersetzer, watch assemblers, Caltex and Lufthansa, the German national airline, was evacuated while the blaze was brought under control.

Miss Daly was rather shaken after the thick black smoke had come through to the upper floors. Her rescue was assisted by sub-officer John A. Kelly. Onlookers watched as she was lowered to safety.
