In 1975, Dutch industrialist Tiede Herrema was kidnapped in Limerick by the IRA, who demanded the release of three republican prisoners, Kevin Mallon, Jim Hyland and Rose Dugdale in return for Herrema.

Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill reports for RTÉ News from outside the Ferenka Factory managed by Herrema, where she talks to his deputy Dr Fritz Lambert. He had been wondering all morning where Herrema was, only to be told what had happened by the Dutch Embassy, who have asked him to close the factory. He says the company's priority is to get Herrema back.
