A house in Monasterevin where Tiede Herrema is being held by the IRA remains surrounded by security forces.
Following the kidnapping of Tiede Herrema by the IRA, a massive security campaign was launched to find him. 18 days later, he was located in a house in Monasterevin, County Kildare. The Dutch industrialist was being held captive by Eddie Gallagher and Marion Coyle. Members of the army and Garda Special Branch descended on the location and laid siege to the house on 21 October 1975.
RTÉ News reports on the seventh day on efforts being made to free Herrema and the security operations put in place. Food is being delivered to the house. Special Branch members have been up on the roof and ambulances are on standby.
