Jazz pianist Stan Kenton played two concerts at the Theatre Royal in Dublin.
In September 1953 Stan Kenton played two shows to a packed Theatre Royal in Dublin. Stan Kenton's appearance in Dublin came about after a dispute with the British Federation of Dance Musicians meant he was refused permission to play in England. Jazz fans travelled from Britain to take in the Dublin shows on 20 September 1953.
Stan Kenton spoke to George Desmond Hutton about the different style of music progressive jazz, big band swing and bop music.
