New technology in the form of a virtual newsreader is provides an alternative approach to news delivery.

A virtual newsreader, named Ananova, has been launched online to deliver personalised news and information.

The persona of Ananova is 28 years of age, 5 foot 8 inches tall, never gets sick and loves her job. Visitors to the Ananova website can be briefed on the day's events. Site visitors can personalise their news interests on topics of specific interest to them. This customised news is tied into a commercial model which then allows Anna Nova to suggest music and books that you may be interested in purchasing.

This report includes interviews with William Cooper, Technical Product Manager for Ananova, Colm Grealy, creator of Online.ie, Barry O'Neill, CEO at Rondomondo, and Brian Trench from the Department of Journalism at Dublin City University.
