Lainey Keogh on how her career just evolved.
Lainey Keogh talks to Bibi Baskin about how she went from being a microbiologist at the Mater Hospital in Dublin to becoming one of Ireland’s top knitwear designers. She says it just evolved from a desire. She has a great love of texture and fibre and travels for inspiration. Her break came when designer Michael Mortell saw her work in an alternative fashion show organised by her friend Ciarán Owens.
As a child, Lainey’s mother made her beautiful sweaters every year for going back to school, which she thinks is a great Irish tradition. Lainey feels the Irish way of hand knitting is very unique and has a third dimension.
Models show a few pieces from her new collection, which has the theme falling in love.
