Louise Kennedy on the challenge of designing uniforms for Ulster Bank staff.

Louise Kennedy has been designing clothes for women since 1983. Her flagship store in Merrion Square was once the premises of Sybil Connolly.  She has also designed a number of high profile uniforms, including those worn by Aer Lingus and Ulster Bank.

In this ‘Nationwide’ report by Ciara Ryan, Louise Kennedy talks about the challenge of designing a uniform for everyday wear. It’s on a different scale to designing a fashion collection. The uniform has to fit a range of sizes from 8 to 20 and the wearability of the fabric is important. Ulster Bank staff give their feedback on the uniform. Chief Executive Martin Wilson says it was time to modernise the uniform to support the bank’s new corporate image.
