Family and friends gather to pay their last respects to Kathleen Behan at St Bernadette's Church in Crumlin and Deansgrange Cemetery.

A Requiem Mass for 95 year old Kathleen Behan the Irish republican and folk singer, and mother of writers Brendan, Brian and Dominic, takes place at St Bernadette's Church in Clogher Road in Crumlin.

The church is close to Kildare Road where Kathleen Behan lived with her family for over 50 years after they moved from Russell Street off the North Circular Road in Dublin.

Chief mourners at the funeral are Kathleen Behan's sons, Rory Furlong, Séamus, Dominic, Seán and Brian Behan, and her daughter Carmel Patton (née Behan). 

Other mourners include Tomás Mac Giolla of the Workers' Party, Ronnie Drew, John Sheehan, and Ciarán Burke of the Dubliners and Lord Mayor of Dublin Michael Keating. An Taoiseach Garret FitzGerald is represented by his Aide de Camp Commandant Diarmuid O Mordha.

Kathleen Behan’s friend of 50 years Matty O'Neill gave the oration at her graveside in Deansgrange Cemetery. He described her as one of the,

Noblest, proudest, and most vivacious of Ireland's daughters.
