A plea for finance to enable a museum dedicated to transport become a viable tourist attraction.

Operated by the Transport Museum Society of Ireland, the Castleruddery Transport Museum near Donard in County Wicklow houses a collection of vehicles covering the history of public and utility transport.

There are more than 40 vehicles are on display, some needing restoration, and a fine collection of photographs.

There is also a museum guide with a history of all the exhibits.

Limited resources mean the museum is operating on a day-to-day basis. The Transport Museum Society of Ireland is making an urgent plea for funds to develop the facility, which includes a dilapidated narrow-gauge railway. Plans to complete the building and landscape the grounds have been delayed due to financial difficulties.
