The Gateaux company provides professional training and employment for young people in Finglas.
Finishing school does not mean an end to education, as apprentice baker Timmy Geoghegan discovered.
For the past year he has attended a bakery course at Kevin Street Technical College while working at the Gateaux factory in Finglas. In contrast to many of his school friends, he chose an apprenticeship, because he wanted a better kind of job.
One that has some prospects in it.
Timmy Geoghegan has found staff at Gateaux, one of Ireland's largest cake manufacturers, to be professional and welcoming.
They help you settle in immediately.
He has adjusted to the working week and the workplace culture. The daily game of football at break time adds to the sense of camaraderie. A secure job means independence and being able to plan for the future.
