The homeless situation has deteriorated in the past year and is going to get worse.

On 1 December 2014, Jonathan Corrie was discovered dead in a doorway on Molesworth Street in Dublin. His death sparked calls for change, candlelit vigils and a homeless summit with a commitment that anyone who wanted a bed for the night in Dublin could have access to one.
One couple, Lisa and Shane, used to stay in hostels but feel safer sleeping on the streets.
The Department of the Environment say that the 250 emergency beds put in place last year are still in place, with an additional 175 beds available this winter. The department has also introduced a two year rent freeze and has promised 500 modular housing units and 35,000 social housing units over the next six years.
