A new carpool service allows users in Dublin to access vehicles on a pay as you go basis.
GoCar.ie is a new facility allowing users to book a car online, and collect it at one of a number of Dublin locations. A card is used to open the vehicle's doors, and a PIN number releases the car key. The driver must return the car to the same location within an allotted timeframe.
An alternative to car ownership for private individuals and also for people in business.
GoCar says it is an environmentally friendly service which will take vehicles off the road and removes the costs involved in owning a car.
It costs €4.75 an hour to rent a car alongside a per kilometre rate of €0.33. The average journey tends to be between two and a half and three hours, covering about 20 kilometres. A journey like this would cost about €18.
GoCar.ie has six locations across the country and now aims to add a new location in Dublin every month.
