Tag rugby with mixed teams offers a social and fun way to get some excercise.

Up to 11,000 adults across Ireland now take part in tag rugby the seven-a-side mixed gender game that is the fastest growing summer sport in the country. Unlike fifteen-a-side rugby there is no tackling in this game.

Simon Bewley, Irish Tag Rugby Association, says the game has been played across the country for the last six years. Each player wears tag shorts which have a velcro patch on the hips. The object of the game is to remove the velcro tag of your opponent when they have the ball.

There's absolutely no contact. It's very enjoyable for males and females to play together.

There is also a strong social element to the game with players enjoying a drink after a game.
