Women take to the streets of Arklow to protest at the spiralling cost of food.
In Arklow, County Wicklow 200 pram-pushing, placard-carrying housewives march along Main Street and Lower Main Street. The women are demonstrating at the weekly price rises of food items such as bread, butter, margarine, meat, eggs, and milk.
Many of the women carry banners expressing their grievances, including 'Prices Up Standard of Living Down'. The women assemble at the end of the march to form a barrier across the street.
