Minister for Defence visits military posts along the border.
The Minister for Defence Patrick Donegan flew in a helicopter along the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland before going on foot to observe the routine patrols. One such routine operation included an army road block.
The tour took Patrick Donegan to border posts at Cavan, Cootehill, Castleblaney and Dundalk. He was accompanied by the Chief of Staff and Steve Kearney Secretary to the Department of Defence, Colonel Jim Quinn O/C Eastern Command and Lt Col Pat Quinlan, executive officer Second Brigade and members of An Garda Síochána.
