Car manufacturer Toyota opens new assembly plant in Dublin.

Toyota is the third largest producer of motor vehicles in the world, and the Corolla model is being assembled here in Bluebell.

Over eighty workers are employed in a factory which has cost over half a million pounds and which was opened today by the Japanese Ambassador to Ireland Yamashita Shigeaki.

Minister for Finance Richie Ryan who is also at the opening is optimistic about the future of such projects, and would like prospective investors to see Ireland as,

An open door, and is the way...to the European market.

Minister Richie Ryan believes If the Dublin venture is successful a second Toyota plant could be on the cards.

Ireland is the likely place for this new expansion.
