A new multi-million shopping centre, the biggest in the region, opens in Waterford city.
City Square, the newest shopping centre in Waterford is crowded for the opening ceremony performed by Lord Mayor Thomas Browne.
Twenty years of work by Waterford City Council has come to fruition and shoppers will now have a large range of shops to choose from, including Dunnes Stores and Roches Stores.
For many years the many derelict properties in the area were considered an eyesore, but that is all in the past, as City Square will,
Revolutionise the quality of shopping in the region.
It is hoped that this centre will attract more people to Waterford city, and provide as Lord Mayor Thomas Browne believes,
A major boost to the economics of the city.
