Snow sticks around long enough to disrupt most of the country while delighting children.

A Sunday snowfall leads to the postponement of many GAA National League fixtures. Roads are dangerous with driving conditions difficult. Farmers are worried about their sheep and other livestock, particularly in hilly areas such as Wicklow where there is heavy snow.

The weather affects a wide area of the county, apart from the northeast. The heaviest snow falls are in the Carlow Kilkenny area with Kilkenny recording a fall of about 10 centimetres.

With milder weather and rain forecast, children make the most of the weather before the the snow disappears.
