New road signs and restrictions introduced to curtail traffic in Dublin city centre.
The new restrictions on traffic aim to speed up traffic flows across Dublin city.
In a nutshell, Dublin City Centre has been almost cut off to cars with the introduction of these new restrictions.
As the changes came into operation, motorists tried to adjust their routes with Dublin's main thoroughfare, O'Connell Street, now closed to private cars.
Dublin City Council says it will clear up the city centre with new signs to direct motorists. However, the Department of Transport say they were not consulted on the plans and a meeting is to take place between officials to discuss the new traffic management changes and signs.
Some motorists were left totally bewildered by the new routes while others are more optimistic that the new system will work.
Conor Faughnan of the Automobile Association (AA) supports the new initiatives but says more needs to be done to beat traffic congestion such as improved public transport and the introduction of park-and-ride facilities.
This is about moving people around. It's not about victimising motorists.
Dublin City Council says the change has been a success with a fifty per cent reduction in traffic on O'Connell Street.
