The Irish Ballet Company perform Le Corsaire.
'Le Corsaire' is a 19th century ballet with music by Riccardo Drigo. Originally a long, involved work with a complicated plot, the pas-de-deux is all that remains in the contemporary repertoire.
Babil Gandara and Kathleen McInerney, both members of the Irish Ballet Company, perform the parts of Conrad and Medora in the pas-de-deux from 'Le Corsaire' during recording in RTÉ Studio 1 in March 1977.

'An Evening with the Irish Ballet Company' was broadcast on 13 June 1977. The programme is introduced by Andy O'Mahony and was directed by Ted Dolan.
The programme also featured a performance of a modern work, Yerma.
'Yerma' is a torrid modern work which follows closely the narrative of motive of Loran's play involving themes of frustrated childlessness, frenzied religious impulse, tenderness, and savage vengeance.
