A local publican and his fundraising committee have purchased a fire engine for the Ashbourne Fire Service.
Celebrations were taking outside the Stags Head pub on in Ashbourne County Meath to officially welcome the newest addition to the town’s fire service.
Extensive fundraising has taken place to purchase the fire fighting vehicle, a remodelled landrover which was transported from its former home in England courtesy of the B&I ferry company. Ward’s garage in Ashbourne has pledged free parking and free maintenance.
The vehicle will not go into service just yet however, as further funds are required for equipment and insurance. The volunteer firefighters are still in training.
