All over Ireland normal library tranquillity is being interrupted by a variety of Children's Book Week events.

The Library Association, The Arts Council, The Irish Book Publishers Association and The Booksellers Association are all involved in the 3rd National Children's Book Week. Countywide a vast array of activities have been organised with the aim of bringing children into the library and,

Persuading them not just in the educational value of reading but that the library is a place where you can have fun.

Scheduled events include storytelling, video shows and a unique version of Jack and the Beanstalk by Theatre Ominbus staged in Limerick City Library. The company's unique style of visual theatre encourages audience participation and the children are more than happy to get involved in the show.

Despite the distractions of television, more children are reading more books than ever before.
