The Miami Showband singer Fran O'Toole performs solo for the series 'Me And My Music'.

Fran O'Toole singer with The Miami Showband was shot dead by the UVF, along with two other members of his band The Miami Showband, (Brian McCoy and Anthony Geraghty) while returning to the Republic from a show in Banbridge, County Down on 30 July 1975.  

Fran O'Toole recorded a half hour programme for RTÉ’s 'Me And My Music’ series in the RTÉ studios on 14 June 1975.  

The programme was broadcast as scheduled on RTÉ Television following consultation with Fran O'Toole's widow Valerie and his parents, who requested that it should go ahead as planned. 

An RTÉ Guide article of 22 August 1975 by Ultan Macken describes the programme as,  

The beginning of what could have been the launching of the young Bray-born singer-songwriter on a whole new career.

Welcoming the studio audience and viewers to the show, Fran O'Toole explains that, 

It’s all about songs that I write with a friend of mine called Des Lee. 

Fran O’Toole performs ‘Here I Go Again’ which he wrote with friend and Miami Showband saxophonist Des Lee.
