Republic of Ireland football manager Jack Charlton names the team to play England in the European Championship.

The squad includes Packie Bonner, Chris Morris, Mick McCarthy, Kevin Moran, Chris Hughton, Ray Houghton, Paul McGrath, Ronnie Whelan, Tony Galvin,  Frank Stapleton, and John Aldridge.

At the press announcement of the Irish side in Stuttgart, Germany, Jack Charlton explains that as the England team has injuries, they may play a team that the Republic was not anticipating.

The match took place on 12 June 1988 with the Republic of Ireland beating England 1-0. The winning goal was scored by Ray Houghton in the sixth minute.
