On 12 June 1988 Ireland faced England in the EURO 1988 finals in Stuttgart Germany. Ray Houghton scored for Ireland after less than six minutes played.

Noel King describes this as a "dream start" for Ireland.
This clip then cuts to the end of the game when the final whistle is blown, the crowd erupts and Ireland are victorious.
