Listowel woman to marry Canadian man she has spent one week with.

Siobhan Cahill met her future husband at a reception during Listowel Race Week in County Kerry.

I knew him for one week, from Sunday to Sunday.

After just one week of courtship, Siobhan plans to pack her bags and move to Canada to spend the rest of her life with him. Since their whirlwind week together, they have kept in contact through letter writing around three times a week.

Marriage is a chance anyway whether you're going to Listowel, Ontario or Timbuktu.

Siobhan believes that she has got to know him much better through writing than if he had been with her in Ireland and is confident that the relationship will last. While recognising that moving to Canada is a risk, Siobhan says that she's not a little girl.

I am definitely getting married. I'm picking out the ring as soon as I arrive.
