Matchmakers and cow dealers in Trim, County Meath.
Trim's traditional Haymaking Festival is an annual celebration of rural life in Co. Meath, organised by the Scurlogstown Olympiad.
Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh visited the 1995 event, where he found horses and sheep for sale, not to mention too many people trying to buy and sell a cow. One of the dealers, Tom Feeney, also operates as a matchmaker. He tells Ó Muircheartaigh how it's done, and what kind of perks he can expect in return.
A farmer has his daughter, and another farmer has his son down the road, you just might get to bring them together.
Also at the festival are Richard and Heather Wright, who got married there in period costume and went through the streets in carriages.
This edition of 'Heartlands' was broadcast on 16 June 1995.
