Daniel O'Donnell marries fiancée Majella McLennan in his home village of Kincasslagh, County Donegal.
In spite of the rain, the well-wishers were in high spirits, albeit regretful that Daniel would no longer be an eligible batchelor. However Betty Canning from Coleraine, County Derry says,
We’re so happy for Daniel that he’s found the love of his life and life begins at forty as you know.
Daniel’s sister the Irish country and western singer Margo is also delighted for her brother.
It’s going to be a very emotional day for us all but we’re happy that he found his true love.
Following the marriage ceremony celebrated by Father Brian D'Arcy and local curate Father Pat Ward, Mr and Mrs Daniel O’Donnell emerged from the church, hand in hand, to rapturous applause.
A joyful Majella declared,
I feel wonderful, absolutely wonderful, a dream come true.
While she may have broken many hearts, Majella assures heartbroken fans,
I’ll look after him.
Before departing to the wedding reception in the Letterkenny Holiday Inn Hotel, Daniel enthused,
It's just fantastic, I don't know why I'm this lucky.
