Three sent off as Armagh win the Ulster football title beating Tyrone in a replay at Croke Park.

Saturday, Croke Park, and Ulster Football Final do not traditionally sit in the same sentence. Yet when neighbours Armagh and Tyrone drew the first time out, it was back to Croke Park for a Saturday replay.

Not an encounter for the purists this bruising battle of Ulster football had a dramatic momentum shift after 53 minutes. At that stage, Tyrone had gone four points clear and made a double substitution introducing Owen Mulligan and Peter Canavan. Within a minute of coming on Peter Canavan was heading back to the bench not having touched the ball after being sent off for his part in a mass brawl. Armagh's Ciaran McKeever was also sent off after the incident.

Eight minutes later Tyrone still had a three point lead when Stephen O'Neill was sent off for a second yellow card. Reduced to thirteen men Tyrone could no longer keep Armagh at bay and the Orchard county scored five unanswered points to retain the Anglo Celt Cup.

The final score was Armagh 0-13 Tyrone 0-11.

These two counties were not finished with each other though. They met again in the All Ireland Football Semi Final with Tyrone winning by a point before going on to win 2005 All Ireland title.
