Lieutenant Commander Van Der Sluis describes life on board the 'Zeehond' which was built in 1960. The crew of seventy one is young with a maximum age of 35 and work 14 to 16 hours a day. After the age of 35 the crew members move on to service ships.
At just 18 metres long, there is not much space on board crew members who live in a very confined environment.
Lieutenant Commander Van Der Sluis says the 'Zeehond' is more or less equipped for battle and armed with with torpedoes.
