The 6 foot Hypertek Hybrid rocket was launched 3,500 feet into the air over County Wicklow by an American rocket expert as part of a project being conducted by Ballinteer Community School.

Air clearance was approved for the launch in the open space of the Wicklow Mountains. The launch was a joint venture between Ballinteer Community School, the Irish rocket project Lasrach and US rocket expert Scott Bartell.

Rocket expert Scott Bartell describes it as

the safest high powered rocket system in existence

Sam Corbett from the Lasrach Club and a former student of Ballinteer Community School has built a 10 foot rocket with plans to launch it in October.
