John McColgan of Tyrone Productions comments on the need for a television channel to have a hit soap, saying,
It is ambitious but when it works it will establish the station, and establish its credibility with a broad audience.
Ros na Rún will be made by Tyrone and EO Teilifís at a cost of £2 million a year. With a cast and crew of seventy, the series will be shot on location on a set in An Spidéal in Galway.
