Musician and activist Bob Geldof, and athlete Ronnie Delany receive the Freedom of Dublin City.

Bob Geldof is being honoured for his humanitarian work over the past twenty years, and Ronnie Delany for being an inspiration to Irish athletes.

At the ceremony held at Dublin's Mansion House, Bob Geldof comments on how proud he is to receive such an honour.

I've received the freedom of many cities, more than I can possibly hope to visit in my lifetime and that's a great honour. But it is greater when your home town does it for you.

Ronnie Delany says

I'm proud to be joining the illustrious people who previously got the award.

Lord Mayor of Dublin Catherine Byrne describes the Freedom of the City as a "priceless gift".

Reporter Orla O'Donnell gets the reaction of the crowd that had turned out to wish Bob Geldof and Ronnie Delany well with one man commenting,
